Austrian designer Konstantin Schmölzer has constructed a wooden tower made of rough logs that resolves into a neat treehouse at the top, squeezed between the green wall and glass atrium of Jean Nouvel’s Sofitel hotel in Vienna. Its base is in the basement while the top overlooks the hotel restaurant several storeys above.

The project was commissioned by Vienna Design Week as part of the Passionswege project that pairs young designers with established Viennese companies, in this case gardening firm Verdarium.

Vienna Design Week continues until 9 October. See all our coverage of the event in our special category on Dezeen.
